Worst Job - Carolyn Duff

Sales Associate

            -Brookfield, Wisconsin (Brookfield Square Mall)
            -Employed by American Eagle Outfitters
-$7.40/hour, I typically worked 9 hours a week and made about $9,000 total
-I didn’t like my manager, Jeff who was condescending and moody. I liked my co-worker, Stephanie but Jeff separated us from each other every time we worked the same shift because we talked too much.
-Objects: Mannequin, Jeans, Name tag
-Headline: Managers who take themselves too seriously and employees who only show up for the discounted clothes.
-Format: Integrative?
           
Bartender at Wisconsin State Fair
            -August 2 – 12 2012
            -West Allis, Wisconsin
            -Employed by Benno’s Concessions
-$8/hour, 8 hr shifts every day, $640 plus over $1,000 in tips
-I liked Danny who worked with me at the bar I was stationed at.
-I did not like the performers who sang on the stage right next to where I worked. It was a show choir group and I had to listen to the same energetic, sparkly teens sing the same songs twice a day, every day. Then once they were done performing they walked around the fair like they owned the place.
-Objects: Keg, plastic cups, tennis shoes
-Headline: “One drink costs how much?? Fine, its 90 degrees, I’ll take a beer and a water bottle.  – oh and here’s your tip, don’t share that with the other guys sweetheart.”

Office Assistant
            -June 2013-August 2013
            -New Berlin, Wisconsin
            -Employed by the School District of New Berlin’s Business Office
-$10/hour, I worked 40 hours a week and made about $3,500 total
-I liked Diana, the Superintendent’s assistant.
-I did not like Karen. I don’t know what her job was, but all she did was walk around and complain to anyone who would listen.
-Objects: Copy Machine/Scanner, Keys, File Cabinet
-Headline: Praying nobody catches me doodling, hiding in the storage closet, falling asleep, or eating lunch in my car by myself.
-Format: Geometric
